Early 2026 brought reports of unpaid employee salaries and an ongoing cash crunch. On the software side, RabbitOS 2 has significantly improved the experience and some users now rate the device favorably.

Rabbit R1 is a small orange hardware device from Rabbit Inc. Originally pitched around a "Large Action Model (LAM)" that would autonomously drive mobile apps, it was an ambitious attempt to position dedicated AI hardware as a smartphone alternative.
