Midjourney
Overview
Midjourney is an AI image generator famous for its distinctive, painterly aesthetic. Its flagship model in 2026 is V7, which entered alpha in April 2025 and became the default on June 17, 2025. V7 delivers richer textures, far better coherence for bodies, hands and objects, and noticeably improved prompt adherence on complex multi-element descriptions. Originally Discord-only, Midjourney now runs primarily through its web app at midjourney.com, with gallery, editor, upscaler and Draft Mode all in-browser.
Key Features
V7 and Personalization
V7 ships with Personalization Profiles enabled by default. As you rate images the model learns your aesthetic preferences and biases future generations toward that style. Prompt comprehension and the upscaler pipeline were both overhauled.
Draft Mode and Voice Iteration
Draft Mode runs roughly 10x faster at half the cost for rough ideation, and supports voice commands for rapid iteration. It is ideal for the exploration phase before committing fast-GPU hours to final renders.
