Adobe Firefly
Overview
Adobe Firefly is Adobe's generative AI suite covering image, video, sound effects and translation, tightly integrated with Creative Cloud. On the image side the current model is Firefly Image Model 5, generally available since March 2026. You can subscribe to Firefly directly (Standard / Pro / Pro Plus / Premium) or reach it through Creative Cloud. Its defining trait is being a multi-model hub: from inside Firefly you can call Adobe's own models plus partner models from Google, OpenAI, Runway, Black Forest Labs (Flux) and Kling.
Key Features
Firefly Image 5 and layer decomposition
Image 5 generates natively at up to 4 megapixels (the previous generation rendered at 1MP and upscaled) and renders humans noticeably better. It can also deconstruct a generated or uploaded image into independent layers so you can adjust individual elements with natural language or ordinary editing tools. Generative Fill now takes instruction-based edits, so whole-image directions like changing the time of day or a subject's pose work.
Commercial-safe defaults
Firefly's native models are trained primarily on Adobe Stock and other licensed content, and Adobe explicitly grants commercial-use rights on outputs. That makes Firefly the default pick inside many enterprises.
Creative Cloud integration and multi-model access
Generative Fill in Photoshop, Generative Recolor in Illustrator, text-to-image in Express — Firefly lives inside the tools designers already use. The Firefly workspace now consolidates 30+ AI models, custom model training and an agentic creative assistant into a single interface.

Paid plans now include unlimited standard generations — credits are only consumed by premium features such as video, translation and partner models. Creative Cloud subscribers on eligible plans get Firefly premium features without a separate subscription.
