DeepL
Overview
DeepL is a premium machine translation service developed by DeepL SE, headquartered in Cologne, Germany. Known for producing more natural and accurate translations than Google Translate, it has a strong reputation for European language pairs. It now covers 100+ languages and bundles far more than translation: DeepL Voice for real-time speech, DeepL Write for grammar and style, and DeepL Agent, which operates a computer like a human to carry out repetitive knowledge work. It is used by enterprises, research institutions, and individuals worldwide.
Main Features
Natural, Context-Aware Translation Quality
DeepL's proprietary large language model produces context-aware translations rather than literal word-for-word output. Even for specialized content such as business documents, technical materials, and legal texts, the results read as if written by a native speaker.
DeepL Voice and DeepL Write
DeepL Voice delivers real-time speech translation on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and mobile apps, removing language barriers from multilingual meetings. DeepL Write is a writing assistant that refines grammar, style, and tone to elevate text to native-level expression.
DeepL Agent and Translation Flow
DeepL Agent follows plain-language instructions to drive a computer the way a person would, autonomously handling repetitive work such as building sales lists or publishing translated web content. Translation Flow, added in July 2026, lets teams kick off a localization job from inside the tools they already use — Google Drive, Contentful and similar systems — and automates the workflow end to end.
Document Translation and Glossaries
Translate Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and plain text files while preserving original formatting. The Customization Hub centralizes glossaries, style rules, and translation memories so company-specific wording is applied automatically across every translation workflow. Full API access enables automation workflows.
Plans and Pricing
The consumer and business tiers were renamed to Individual / Team / Business (formerly Starter / Advanced / Ultimate), and on the API side the old API Free and API Pro plans stopped being sold in July 2026, replaced by Developer / Growth / Enterprise.
