Canva now lives inside your chat app
Until last week, using Canva meant switching out of your chat app entirely. Canva is now a connected app inside Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini, generating brand-kit-aware editable designs without switching apps.
Four assistants,
connected one at a time
This didn't happen overnight. Canva has been rolling out connections since 2025, and this update finally completes the set of four major assistants.
In its newsroom post "Create on-brand Canva designs directly inside Claude," Canva explains it launched a Canva MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector for Claude in July 2025, then expanded it in February 2026 to generate on-brand designs using a team's Brand Kit. It later shipped as an app inside ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, and per a Business Wire release, "Canva Brings On-Brand, Editable Design into Google Gemini," a Connected App for Gemini was announced at Google I/O and began rolling out with limited availability on May 19, 2026.
The last piece — a connected app for Microsoft Copilot — has now gone live, completing coverage across all four major assistants: Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini. Canva's own account confirmed the news, posting that "Canva is now available in Microsoft Copilot."
Already 12M+ designs generated
Per the Business Wire release, the Canva MCP Server has already generated more than 12 million designs across ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot alone. With Copilot now fully live and Gemini expanding, that number is set to climb further.

Available as an official app inside ChatGPT, including Magic Layers, which turns generated images into layered, editable Canva designs.

Who saves time — and who doesn't
Designers
Get a Brand-Kit-aware draft straight out of a chat prompt. Detailed editing still means going back into Canva itself — that part hasn't changed.
Marketers
Draft campaign visuals in the same chat where you're already researching and writing copy — one less app to switch to.
Business leads / IT
Standardize on one company-wide AI assistant while still keeping access to Canva's brand assets — a useful factor in tool consolidation decisions.

Design is no longer something you open — it's something that emerges from the conversation.
What happens next
Canva isn't moving in isolation here. Per PetaPixel's reporting, Adobe has also been expanding its own ChatGPT integration — a sign that the race to live inside AI assistants is now a genuine competitive front. Completing coverage of all four assistants strengthens Canva's position as first mover, but with Adobe entering the same arena, that lead is unlikely to hold indefinitely.
There's a practical caveat too: what you get inside a chat is still a draft-level design. Complex layout tweaks and animation still require going back into Canva proper. If you already do detailed editing inside Canva day to day, this change barely touches you. If your workflow runs through research, copywriting, and image generation inside one chat window, though, this genuinely cuts the number of app switches you need.
