Gemini goes native across every Pixel.
At "Made by Google '26" on August 12, 2026, Google unveiled the Pixel 11 lineup, the Pixel Watch 5, and its first standalone tracker, Pixel Tag. Following June's Home Speaker — Gemini's first piece of hardware — phones, watches and trackers are now all shifting to the "Gemini-native" generation.

On August 12, 2026, Google announced the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold lineup, alongside the Pixel Watch 5 and its first standalone location tracker, Pixel Tag. Google detailed the announcements on its official blog, and every device shipped with new Gemini features baked in.
The base Pixel 11 starts at $899 for 128GB, and the entire lineup shares the new 2nm Tensor G6 chip, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The flagship Pixel 11 Pro Fold gets a new 8-inch OLED inner display (peak brightness 3,000 nits), priced at $1,899 — $100 more than last year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold. What stands out is less the hardware refresh than the sheer volume of Gemini features shipping alongside it: Rambler, which cleans up rambling speech into structured text; SL2T, which transcribes sign language directly into text; a location-aware "At a Glance" widget; a smarter Chrome assistant; and personalized autofill. This wasn't a single flagship feature launch — it reads as an annual push to weave Gemini into the OS itself.

Phone, watch and tracker aren't separate products — they're built as one ecosystem, each drawing specialized features from the same Gemini foundation.
The structure shows Google now treating Gemini as a shared layer across OS and hardware, not a standalone app. Rambler (cleaned-up voice input) and At a Glance (context-aware widgets) are actually rolling out to Samsung Galaxy devices too, lifting Android as a whole. Meanwhile SL2T's sign-language transcription, on-device watch-face generation, and monthly blood-pressure/insulin-resistance trend summaries were announced as Pixel-exclusive. Deliberately splitting "Android-wide baseline features" from "Pixel-only differentiators" is the core of this rollout's design.

SL2T, announced by Google DeepMind the same day, is built to exchange only "movement coordinates" — not raw video.

Tag: asset tracking at $29
Pixel Tag is $29 per unit ($99 for four), with UWB enabling precision finding up to 50m away. For IT teams evaluating asset tracking for loaned devices or equipment, the AirTag-only field just gained a lower-cost option.

Does "Gemini-native" stay
a differentiator?
Why this matters now. Apple is folding generative AI into Siri incrementally; Samsung is scaling back Bixby in favor of adopting Gemini itself. Google, by contrast, refreshed hardware twice in two months — Home Speaker in June, the Pixel 11 generation in August — pursuing a strategy of fielding an entire lineup of devices designed around Gemini from the ground up. This isn't one flagship feature; it's an attempt to own several everyday touchpoints — phone, watch and tracker — at once.
What happens next. Whether SL2T or on-device watch-face generation eventually reach other Android devices, the way Rambler did on Samsung Galaxy, hasn't been announced. Enterprise Android buyers should treat Pixel 11 as a pilot fleet worth testing, and product teams should study SL2T's on-device design — sending only coordinates, never raw video — as a reference architecture for privacy-conscious AI features of their own. Pixel Tag doesn't ship until November, leaving a few months of runway for asset-tracking budget planning.
But this isn't unambiguously good news. Most of the marquee features are Pixel- and Pixel Watch-exclusive, so owners of other Android phones see no direct benefit. The blood-pressure and insulin-resistance trend summaries aren't a regulator-cleared diagnostic tool — they're trend visualization, nothing more. And since Rambler and At a Glance are also headed to Samsung, it's unclear how long "Gemini-native" hardware keeps a real functional edge. Whether the price increase (the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is up $100) buys a proportionate experience gap is the question that will decide it.
