What Is Notion AI
Notion is a tool that unifies notes, documents, tasks, and databases. Notion AI is the AI feature built into it, and its biggest trait is being able to call AI right next to your internal documents and minutes. Without opening ChatGPT in another tab, you can summarize, extract tasks, and translate based on the page you're writing. This article explains, for beginners, what it can do, pricing, basic operation, strengths and weaknesses, and combining with other tools.

Pricing (Rough Guide as of May 2026)
Notion AI's pricing structure has changed. The former "USD 10 standalone add-on" was discontinued, and as of 2026 the Notion AI features are included by default in the business plan (and enterprise). Note that the personal free/lower plans can no longer add AI as before. Further advanced automation (custom agents, etc.) may be additional credit-based billing. Check the official site for the latest pricing and included features.

Where to Use It
1. Processing Minutes
Keep a minutes template in Notion, paste the transcription after the meeting, and ask "extract tasks, summarize decisions."
2. Cross-Document Search (Q&A)
From all pages in the workspace, ask things like "what next measure was decided in last week's marketing meeting?" and it pulls the relevant part to answer. Only pages you have view permission for are targeted.
3. Creating/Updating the Internal Wiki
You can mass-produce new-hire onboarding materials, update existing documents, or create translated versions for English-speaking staff.
4. Table-Data Analysis
For a Notion database, ask "3 insights from this data."

Security / Data Handling
Notion states it doesn't use workspace data to train AI models. Integration with external AI infrastructure is contract-protected, and enterprise offers even stronger conditions. But conditions can change, so before handling highly confidential information, check the latest official documentation and your company's policy.

Splitting roles—"work inside internal documents with Notion AI, external research and specialist analysis with general AI"—avoids waste.
Common Misunderstandings
- "AI works on the free plan too": the standalone add-on ended; in 2026 it's basically included in the business plan. Verify the latest officially
- "It researches info outside Notion": it basically targets the workspace; combine general AI for external research
- "Put confidential in as is": confirm training use and protection conditions by plan and latest terms, and follow company policy
