Household "Waste" Hides in Fixed Costs
The most effective saving is reviewing fixed costs that leave automatically every month. AI is good at taking stock and prioritizing here.
Step 1: Give Spending to AI
Paste a credit-card statement or budgeting-app monthly summary (name/card number removed) and ask:
Classify this month's spending into "fixed / variable / investment," and order the fixed costs by the largest room to cut. Add an alternative for each item.
Step 2: Standard Fixed-Cost Checks
- Communications: a few thousand yen/month via budget SIM/plan review
- Subscriptions: cancel unused video/music/apps
- Insurance: any overlapping/excess coverage (detailed in a later chapter)
- Electricity/gas: switching plan/company estimate
- Housing: feasibility of rent/mortgage refinancing
Step 3: Manage Variable Costs by "Budget"
Asking "I want to keep food cost to X yen/month. Make weekly guides and an alert-like idea for when I'm about to exceed" gives a plan that contains it by system, not endurance.
Tricks to Keep Going
- At month start, give AI last month's results and review "how did it change vs last month?"
- Set the cut amount to auto-route to "pay-yourself-first savings"
- Keep only items that showed effect after 3 months; stop unreasonable saving
Caution
When pasting statements as-is, watch for info that could identify behavior from store names. Redact concerning lines before handing over.
