Life-Use AI and Privacy
Asking AI means what you input is sent to a server. Unlike work, confidentiality tiers are looser, but know the minimum rules to protect family personal info and private consultations.
Information to Be Careful Inputting
- Family real names/address/phone
- Health info (specific history/medication/mental concerns)
- Kids' photos/school/age
- Account/card numbers/passwords
- My Number/driver's-license number
- Location info/home-area identifying details
Protect with 3 Settings
1. "Not Used for Training" Setting
The 3 main AIs let users choose whether input data is used for training.
- ChatGPT: Settings → Data Controls → turn OFF "Improve the model for everyone"
- Claude: not used for training by default (personal plan)
- Gemini: turn OFF "Gemini Activity" (Google account settings)
2. Temporary Chat / Private Mode
For conversations you don't want in history:
- ChatGPT: "Temporary chat" mode
- Claude: conversations deletable later
- Gemini: incognito mode
3. Periodic History Deletion
Make a habit of deleting old conversations every 3 months. The flow "Settings → conversation history → export all → delete."

Cautions When Uploading Photos
- Mask faces/license plates/address displays
- Don't put kids' photos directly into AI
- Whether prescription-drug names are in the photo
- Credit cards/IDs are absolutely NG
Voice-Input Blind Spots
- Surrounding conversation gets picked up (café, train)
- Family names get mixed in
- TV audio intrudes
Voice input in a quiet place, or switch to text.
Kids and AI
- Kids' accounts have age limits (under 13 not allowed is standard)
- When using a parent's account, watch beside them
- Be careful kids don't input personal info

Illegal Questions/Inappropriate Use
- Consulting on illegal acts (drugs/firearms) → AI refuses, operator logs it
- Intent to harm others → same
- Inappropriate content toward minors → same
- These can suspend the account as terms violations
If You Did Input Info
- Delete the conversation in question
- Send a "data-deletion request" to the AI operator
- If the training-use setting was on, the affected range is limited but confirm just in case
