Make AI a "Learning Partner"
The essence of learning with AI is not being taught the answer but gaining a partner to practice thinking with. Used wrong it lowers thinking ability; used right it accelerates.
4 Uses That Raise Efficiency
- Have it explain: break down hard concepts to your level
- Have it question: make comprehension-test problems and solve them yourself
- Have it grade: get feedback on your answers/summaries
- Have it plan: build a study roadmap back-calculated from goals
Uses to Avoid
- Copying answers and "feeling like you understood" (the most common failure)
- Rote-memorizing AI's explanation without verifying (it can contain errors)
- Asking AI before thinking (robbing yourself of persistence time)
An Effective Pattern: Explain → Quiz → Grade
Explain [theme] for a beginner. Then give 3 problems to check comprehension. When I answer, grade and explain my weak points.
Principle
Don't have AI solve; have AI build how to solve. If you thoroughly hold the stance "I do the learning," AI becomes the strongest tutor. The next chapters dig in by use.
