Overview

Canva AI is the AI design suite integrated into Canva — text, image, video, and design generation plus photo editing and writing in one platform, usable by non-designers. With Canva AI 2.0 (April 2026) the suite runs on the Canva Design Model, a proprietary foundation model that understands design structure, hierarchy, and spatial relationships, producing fully layered editable output from a single prompt.

Conversational Design (Canva AI 2.0)

Magic Design, Magic Write, Magic Edit, and Magic Switch are consolidated into a single conversational input box that interprets intent and routes to the right underlying model, and can produce up to 50 variations of a design in one run.

Layered, Editable Output

The AI returns separated editable objects rather than a flat image, so individual text and shapes can be swapped after generation.

Memory Library

Persistent memory that retains user preferences and brand styles and applies them to later generations.

AI usage is now split into Standard / Premium / Ultra tiers with a monthly cap per plan, and the former "Teams" plan has been folded into Business.
